The Classical School
Boone County’s new, AFFORDABLE K – Grade 8 college preparatory school.
Classical Education in Central Indiana
The Classical School stands on the shoulders and is inspired by the wonderful tradition of the Indianapolis Classical School, consisting of the School for Boys (1876) and School for Girls (1882). These schools presented a course of study “required for admission to one of the leading Colleges or Scientific Schools.”
Why Choose The Classical School
Classical education has been tested and honed over the ages – we’ll strengthen it with a few, carefully selected best practices from modern education. Every day at The Classical School, students will actively engage challenging academic concepts and skills and have fun doing so with their classmates. While learning to think critically, students will also recognize what is true, do what is good, and love what is beautiful. The ultimate outcome? Lovely young people with great minds and great hearts.

College Preparatory Curriculum
Classical education is enjoying a major renaissance nationally. Why? Because it has worked throughout the ages and still does today! TCS will offer a classical liberal arts education rich in the humanities, math and science but also with broad exposure to the arts and athletics. Our integrated, rigorous approach to preparing young minds provides our students with a broad and deep (and lasting) academic foundation upon which to build their future academic and professional careers. They’ll be thrilled with their academic preparation when later competing in college and at work.
Small Class Sizes
With small class sizes of 15-20 students (and an aide in Kindergarten and Grade 1), our students will receive the personal attention their young minds need to learn to read early and master basic math facts. Committed teachers will take full advantage of this individual attention they can provide for each student, making for an exceptional educational experience. Classical instruction trains students to think, speak, discuss, and interact with others, and small class sizes allow each student to be heard and receive a response. This builds confidence and allows students to seek new and bigger academic challenges.

Happy Teachers, Happy Students, Happy Parents
We’re setting out to create the school we’ve always dreamed of – rigorous and effective, happy and satisfying, efficient and affordable. And for all of our constituents – teachers, students, parents and administrators. Imagine a school where kids love learning, teachers love teaching and parents enjoy visiting and volunteering. Experienced teachers and administrators have created this school, beginning with a few initial aspirations on a piece of paper. Our focus on moral excellence, resilience, and civic responsibility is personally exciting for all of us at TCS. We are committed to leading our students by example and creating a school culture that yields both outstanding academic achievement and happy, healthy students – and doing so at a remarkably affordable price determined by a family’s income.
